From 17 June to 31 July 2013 will be held in Ugento the Archaeology course for children at the headquarters of the Nuovo Museo Archeologico. Organized by Studio di Consulenza Archeologica, managing body of Museum System of the City of Ugento, is sponsored by the City of Ugento and the Superintendence for Archaeological Heritage of Puglia.


Children and young people aged 7 to 13 years old participating in the initiative on the morning of Monday, Wednesday and Friday, from 9 am to 13, play learning, by discovering the fascinating world of archeology.


The main purpose of the course is to bring a total of 80 hours the kids, in a simple and fun, methodologies for archaeological research, helping them to understand the uniqueness and specificity of historical-cultural environment in which they live. The course also give the opportunity to the participants to determine, through direct experience and personal concepts already learned through the school curriculum.


The course provides from time to time a brief introduction to the theoretical part which can then focus the practical activities of archaeological excavation and laboratory that will occupy most of the time. There are also excursions to artisan workshops, archaeological sites, museums and cultural heritage of the area.
